Unite and Rise

The United States is in a constitutional crisis. Now is the time to band together to defend our constitution, protect the rule of law, demand the preservation of checks and balances, safeguard the right to vote, and build a democracy where every person and every voice counts.

LWV launched the Unite and Rise initiative, which aims to mobilize 8.5 million voters using the power of voter engagement as a cornerstone of our democracy. Unite and Rise 8.5 showcases the many ways voters can drive change through advocacy, mobilization, civic education, and engagement.

Mission

Inform Placer County citizens to enable active participation in shaping better communities.

Goal

Continually build knowledge of political processes and public policy to deliver unbiased, easy to access, and reliable information to as many Placer County citizens as possible.

Vision
LWVPC becomes the primary source for Placer County citizens to obtain unbiased, reliable public policy information to make informed decisions.

National Constitution Day

The U.S. Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787, in Philadelphia.

Designation:
In 2004, Congress passed a law making September 17th a combined Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, requiring educational institutions receiving federal funds to hold educational programs on the Constitution on that date.
Purpose:
The day serves as a reminder of the importance of the Constitution as the supreme law of the land, and it celebrates the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
Observance:
Federal agencies and educational institutions are encouraged to display the flag on September 17th.Many schools and organizations hold special events, including naturalization ceremonies, to mark the occasion.
Citizenship Day:
Citizenship Day was originally established to recognize individuals becoming U.S. citizens, whether through birth or naturalization.

How Does Redistricting Work?

Redistricting, or community districting, is the process of creating representational district maps for states and local communities. By determining which neighborhoods are included in each mapped boundary, redistricting impacts how our communities are represented in the US and local government and determines how resources are distributed.
